It gets better
Vegetable tanned leather darkens where you hold it. The bag ends up a record of how you carried it.
Solid brass
Not plated. A plated fitting wears through to base metal in a year and then it is jewellery for a bin.

Four things worth knowing before you scroll past

LeatherFull grain
Vegetable tanned over six weeks in pits, not six hours in a drum. Slower, and it is the reason it patinas rather than peels.

Two needles, one thread, hand pulled. A machine lockstitch unravels from a single cut. This one does not.

Rivets, D rings, zip pull. Heavier than plated steel and still working after the leather has changed colour twice.

The claim, if there is only one

Two ways to make a leather bag
Corrected grain
The hide is sanded to remove every scar, then a grain is printed back onto it and sealed under pigment. Every bag looks identical, which is the point.
It cannot patina, because the surface you are touching is not leather. When the coating cracks, and it does, there is nothing underneath to recover.
Full grain
The hide is used as it came, scars included. No two panels match exactly, and the marks are the evidence that it was an animal rather than a wallpaper.
It darkens where your hand sits, and it can be fed, restitched and repaired indefinitely, because it is still leather all the way down.
